  1. Shop online. Seriously, traipsing around packed department stores looking for non-existent gifts for people who are impossible to buy for is enough to send even the calmest person into meltdown. You've still got 10 days, so get surfing.christmas-stress-pic
  2. Ask friends and relatives to each bring a dish to contribute to the meal or stock up the freezer with party food. It's not worth ruining the day by being tied to the kitchen.
  3. Christmas is a time for family (and for volcanic arguments). Don't take the bait if someone's niggling you - have another mince pie and sort out any differences after the holiday. Just stay for a few hours, make your excuses and go!
