Blondes alluring, brunettes dependable

Men prefer blondes as girlfriends but dark-haired women are considered the best long-term option, suggests a study that found brunettes were perceived as more dependable by males.

The research has supported the old adage that gentlemen prefer blondes, but not when it comes to choosing a wife.

According to the Daily Express, in the poll of 3,000 men it was found that men think blondes are preferable as girlfriends, but when it comes to marriage, 52 per cent would rather wed a dark-haired woman because they are seen as more dependable. Only 18 per cent of the men thought a blonde would make a good wife, it said.

“This shows just how much men judge a woman by their hair colour,” hairdresser Andrew Collinge, whose company commissioned the poll, was quoted as saying by the British tabloid.
Almost 37 per cent said women with fair hair were fun, but dark-haired women were more dependable.

The research also revealed that 33 per cent of males have a particular hair shade they always go for, with 44 per cent saying they are more attracted to brunettes.
